Lucas Herrington named PFA Young Men's Footballer of the Year

Australian footballer Lucas Herrington has been named the 2025/26 PFA Young Men’s Footballer of the Year. The 19-year-old defender, who plays for Hull City, received the award after receiving the most votes from his peers.

Herrington has experienced a rapid rise in professional football. After playing for Brisbane Roar in the A-League, he moved to the Colorado Rapids in MLS, where he made 20 appearances and earned an MLS All-Star selection. He also recently received the Harry Kewell Medal as Australia's best under-23 player.

On the international stage, Herrington was part of Australia's 2026 FIFA World Cup squad, where he became the youngest-ever Socceroos starter in a World Cup Group Stage match against Paraguay. He is currently preparing to represent the Socceroos in two upcoming international friendlies against Brazil in Townsville and Brisbane.
