Lucas Museum of Narrative Art opens in Los Angeles
The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art has opened in Los Angeles at Exposition Park. Spanning over 300,000 square feet, the facility features a collection of narrative art, including works by illustrators, comic book artists, photographers, and street artists, alongside iconic cinematic objects.
The museum's architecture, a collaboration between MAD Architects and Stantec, offers a futuristic design. While the museum focuses on the broader theme of narrative art drawn from George Lucas's private collection, it includes significant Star Wars elements. These include a dedicated gallery on the fourth floor and outdoor garden statues featuring characters such as Padmé, Princess Leia, Yoda, and Grogu.
George Lucas, the creator of Star Wars and founder of Lucasfilm, established the museum to celebrate visual storytelling. His career has also been defined by technological innovations through entities like Industrial Light & Magic, Skywalker Sound, and the origins of Pixar Animation Studios.
