Lucas Torreira discusses Galatasaray goals and Turkish football evolution

Galatasaray midfielder Lucas Torreira spoke at the ‘GSYİAD Talks’ event organized by the 1905 Galatasaray Managers and Businessmen Association in Istanbul. Reflecting on his four years with the club, the 30-year-old Uruguayan stated that he could not have imagined winning championship trophies every May when he first transferred from Fiorentina.

Torreira emphasized that the primary goal for the club remains being ‘Champion’ and expressed a desire to secure a fifth championship. He noted that Turkish football is evolving, citing the arrival of high-profile players as evidence that the league is becoming more competitive and challenging than ever before.

Regarding upcoming competitions, Torreira highlighted the importance of derbies against Fenerbahçe, Beşiktaş, and Trabzonspor. He also shared personal reflections on significant moments, such as celebrating a goal against Fenerbahçe with his father, and expressed ambitions for success in European competitions, specifically aiming to see Galatasaray at the top of the Champions League.
