Lucas Torreira seeks exit from Turkey following security threats

Galatasaray midfielder Lucas Torreira has requested his representative, Pablo Bentancur, to arrange his departure from Turkey due to escalating security concerns. The request follows a recent incident involving a man, identified as Yusuf Y., who has been obsessively stalking Torreira’s partner, actress Devrim Özkan.

The suspect, who previously attacked Torreira in an Istanbul shopping mall in May, was recently released from prison. Upon his release, Yusuf Y. reportedly targeted Torreira’s driver and issued a threat, stating, “I have come to finish the work I started.” This latest episode has prompted Turkish authorities to open a new investigation.

While Torreira has expressed affection for Turkey and his club, the ongoing threats have compromised his sense of safety. Reports indicate that Galatasaray management is attempting to meet with the player to persuade him to remain with the team despite his desire to leave Istanbul.
