Lucas Vergílio Gains Support of Six Aparecida de Goiânia Councilors for 2026 Race

Lucas Vergílio, a member of the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies (MDB) and pre‑candidate for the 2026 federal deputy election, has obtained endorsements from six councilors in Aparecida de Goiânia. The supporters include Roberto Chaveiro, who highlighted Vergílio’s two terms in Congress and promised local projects such as a municipal guard base, a new early‑childhood education center and an urgent care unit. The other councilors backing Vergílio are Ataídes Neguinho, Domingos Rodrigues, Edinho Carvalho, Mazinho Baiano and Rogério Almeida, with formalization of their commitments expected by 27 January. This backing makes Vergílio the pre‑candidate with the highest number of councilor endorsements in the city, surpassing rival José Nelto (União Brasil), who is also courting local officials. The growing local support is part of Vergílio’s broader strategy to strengthen his campaign for the upcoming federal elections.
