Lucasfilm announces expanded novel for Star Wars: Starfighter

Lucasfilm has announced that the upcoming film ‘Star Wars: Starfighter’ will be accompanied by an expanded novelization. Set to release in theaters on May 28, 2027, the film is directed by Shawn Levy and stars Ryan Gosling as Kade Auberon. The story takes place approximately five years after ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ and explores a period in the galaxy without a central governing authority.

At New York Comic Con, Lucasfilm Publishing confirmed that author Delilah S. Dawson will write a novelization scheduled for release on June 22, 2027. The book is described as an “expanded retelling” that will include scenes and context not seen on screen, similar to the approach taken with the 2019 release of ‘The Rise of Skywalker’. The film is expected to introduce new characters and mark the beginning of a new era of storytelling following the Skywalker saga.
