Lucasfilm Games pursues diversity in Star Wars titles

Douglas Reilly, Vice President of Lucasfilm Games, has outlined a strategy to sustain the Star Wars franchise by expanding beyond high-budget AAA productions toward more diverse and modest projects. This approach aims to leverage smaller, independent studios to deliver high-quality experiences.

Recent successes supporting this strategy include Star Wars: Galactic Racer by Fuse Games, which earned an 88/100 Metacritic score on PS5, and Zero Company by BitReactor. While these studios operate independently, their developers include veterans from established entities such as Criterion, Firaxis Games, EA, and Respawn.

Additionally, rumors suggest interest from two major studios regarding a potential Star Wars Battlefront 3. DICE, the developer of the previous entries, and Bungie, the studio behind Destiny, are reportedly among those interested in developing the next installment of the first-person shooter series.
