Lucasfilm leadership change threatens five Disney-era Star Wars movies

Lucasfilm announced that longtime president Kathleen Kennedy has left the studio, with veteran producer Dave Filoni and co‑president Lynwen Brennan taking over the helm. The leadership transition comes as the company reviews its slate of announced Disney‑era Star Wars films.

According to a recent report, five projects now face heightened uncertainty. These include the planned MandoVerse crossover film that would unite characters from The Mandalorian and other series, James Mangold’s origin story about the first Jedi, a sequel featuring Daisy Ridley’s Rey, Patty Jenkins’ Rogue Squadron, and other titles that have lingered in development limbo. While none have been officially cancelled, the new executives may decide to scrap or further delay them as they reshape Lucasfilm’s theatrical strategy.
