Lucasfilm plans new Star Wars Skywalker saga trilogy

Lucasfilm is reportedly planning to continue the Skywalker saga on the big screen with a new trilogy. Director Jon Watts, known for the ‘Spider-Man’ franchise, has been selected to direct the first installment, while Simon Kinberg is set to handle writing and production duties.

The new trilogy is expected to follow the adventures of Rey following the events of ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’. Daisy Ridley is reportedly being considered to reprise her role. While the project is in development, it has not yet received official approval from Disney.

This news comes as Lucasfilm continues to expand its universe through various projects, including the Disney+ series ‘Skeleton Crew’ and the upcoming film ‘Starfighter’, which is scheduled for release in 2027.
