Lucca municipal police close public office during Comics festival

The Vivere il Centro Storico committee has criticized the Lucca municipal administration following the decision to close the municipal police front office to the public during the Lucca Comics & Games festival.

According to the committee, the office will remain closed from October 28 to November 1, 2026. This decision comes as the city expects to manage over 100,000 daily visitors within a 4.2 square kilometer area. The committee argued that the closure occurs at a time when public assistance needs and potential issues are at their highest due to the massive influx of people.

The group questioned the logic of suspending a public service during peak demand, suggesting that if the office is unnecessary during the city's busiest period, its utility throughout the rest of the year is also in doubt.
