Lucca youth return from Sint-Niklaas twinning program

Youth from Lucca have returned home following their participation in the 2026 Twinning program held in Sint-Niklaas, Belgium, from September 3 to 7. The delegation, which included Greta Tofanelli, Marta Mosca, Stella Acerbi, and Selma Harim Tofanelli, represented the city under the theme ‘Cities, their rights, and their duties.’

Upon their return, the participants were received at Palazzo Orsetti by City Councilor Stefano Pierini and the president of Twinning Lucca, Duccio Lorusso. The group shared details of their experience, including cultural visits to Ghent to see the Van Eyck brothers' ‘Ghent Altarpiece’ and the Mercator museum, as well as a trip to Hulst in the Netherlands.

The program also featured local traditions such as the Sint-Niklaas hot air balloon show, an Art Deco heritage walk, and the ‘Games Without Frontiers’ social competition between twinning delegations.
