LUCE Stiftung’s BIAP symposium highlights successful integration of foreign nursing staff in Bavaria

On 28 July the BIAP‑Abschlusssymposium was held in the Future Lab of the LUCE Stiftung in Bavaria, marking the conclusion of a two‑year project that aimed to integrate foreign‑trained nursing staff into German care facilities. About 60 guests—including representatives from nursing homes, academia, government agencies and politics—attended. The four showcased projects were funded by the European Social Fund Plus, the Bavarian State Ministry for Family, Labour and Social Affairs and the European Union.

The event opened with remarks from Severin Hirmer, Chairman of the LUCE Stiftung, followed by a greeting from Stefan Schmon, head of the ESF administration in Bavaria. Bavarian State Minister Ulrike Scharf sent a video message praising the initiative’s contribution to strengthening Bavaria’s nursing sector. The programme was moderated by Carina Adam, responsible for international education at the foundation. A keynote by Prof. Matthias Drossel and Ralloù Moutafis of Hochschule Hof stressed the importance of knowledge transfer from university to practice.

Presentations covered four projects: simulation‑based learning at the Bamberger Academies, the InaP 2.0 programme at the Technical University of Würzburg‑Schweinfurt, the Arche TWI initiative from Eggolsheim, and the INsTeam project at the Technical University of Deggendorf. Speakers detailed practical concepts and measures that have proven effective for integrating international nursing personnel, and the symposium provided ample networking opportunities for participants.
