Lucena to launch new green zone maintenance service in October

The Lucena City Council will launch a new maintenance and conservation service for the city's green zones and trees starting in October. The four-year contract involves an investment of approximately four million euros.

Fepamic-UNEI has been awarded the contract, which is divided into two lots. The first lot, focused on the maintenance of green areas, gardens, and trees, is valued at 922,821 euros annually. The second lot, dedicated to the maintenance, replacement, and irrigation of planters, amounts to 93,126 euros per year.

The decision follows a procurement process initiated in May that faced various legal challenges. However, the Administrative Tribunal of Contractual Resources of the Junta de Andalucía dismissed appeals from municipal groups and a participating company, allowing the procedure to proceed. The new service is expected to add around twenty workers to reinforce the care of urban and peri-urban green spaces.
