Lucera and Castrovillari face local political disputes over public funding and infrastructure

In the southern Italian city of Lucera, the opposition movement Orizzonti Futuri has accused Mayor Giuseppe Pitta’s administration of irregularities in awarding a €21,000 public grant for the "Lucera Estate 2026" billboard. The group alleges procedural flaws, possible conflicts of interest and a lack of transparency in the documentation.

In Castrovillari, the Radici e Futuro movement met with Public Works Assessor Antonio Di Paola to discuss long‑standing problems in the Maroglio and Salituri neighborhoods. The administration confirmed a technical inspection will be carried out by the end of August, with works – including improved street lighting, road safety measures and remediation of water‑damage to the road surface – slated to begin by October.
