Lucerne implements new childcare voucher regulations

Following the approval of a counter-proposal to the law on supplementary family childcare by voters in Lucerne in late 2025, new regulations regarding childcare vouchers will take effect on August 1, 2026.

The new measures aim to provide greater financial relief to families and introduce a uniform application process across the canton. As of August 3, 2026, applications for childcare vouchers can be submitted online through the my.lu.ch portal under the ‘Health & Social Affairs’ category.

An online calculator is also available to allow families to estimate their potential entitlement to these vouchers.
