Lucero Sánchez López claims El Chapo convened 2013 political meeting
Lucero Sánchez López, a former member of the Sinaloa Congress known as the ‘Chapodiputada’, has claimed that Joaquín ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán and Dámaso López, ‘El Licenciado’, organized a meeting with political candidates during the 2013 election cycle.
According to Sánchez López, the meeting took place in the Cruz de Lota area. The gathering included candidates from various political parties, including representatives from the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI). She stated that the purpose of the meeting was not to seek campaign financing or political support, but rather to establish an agreement of neutrality and non-aggression.
Sánchez López explained that the meeting was prompted by flyers circulated by her opponents linking her to Guzmán. She reported this to the drug lord, leading to the assembly where it was reportedly agreed that Guzmán would not intervene in the electoral process. The 2013 elections in Sinaloa covered districts including Culiacán, San Ignacio, Elota, and Cosalá.
