Lucho Acosta likely to avoid STJD indictment in betting probe

The investigation into Fluminense midfielder Lucho Acosta regarding suspicious betting activity is expected to be closed without a formal indictment by the Superior Court of Sports Justice (STJD). The 60-day deadline for the Prosecutor's Office to decide on a potential complaint expires this Sunday, September 20.

The probe began in July after Sportradar identified an abnormal volume of bets placed via cryptocurrency on a yellow card received by the Argentine player during a match against Bragantino in the Brasileirão. Acosta has participated in meetings and provided testimony to clarify the circumstances of the card, which occurred during a confrontation in the final minutes of the game.

While Fluminense's management and legal team have supported the player throughout the process, both the club and Acosta remain cautious, as the investigation could be reopened if new evidence emerges.
