Lucia Hubinská denounces public humiliation of opponent voters in Slovakia

Political commentator Lucia Hubinská argues that publicly humiliating supporters of rival parties is not legitimate political communication. She says social media have forced politics to adapt to algorithms, turning politicians into content creators and voters into material for viral videos.

Hubinská points to the tactics of former Slovak prime minister Igor Matovič and members of the Progressive Slovakia movement, including Michal Šimečka, as examples of exploiting algorithmic shock value by targeting opponent voters with demeaning portrayals. She warns that such practices reduce citizens to caricatures and undermine democratic dialogue.
