Luciana Aleixo launches aurora borealis tourism project in Finland

Luciana Aleixo, a Portuguese national from Carvoeiro, has launched a new tourism project called ‘Lucy in Lapland’ focused on aurora borealis experiences in Rovaniemi, Finland.

After several unsuccessful attempts to witness the Northern Lights in Norway, Aleixo successfully observed the phenomenon in Lapland in early 2025. This experience inspired her to transition from a career in management to entrepreneurship. Due to family commitments in the Algarve, she currently splits her time between Portugal and Finland, spending three weeks in each location.

The business operates by analyzing daily meteorological data to navigate cloud cover and find optimal viewing locations, as the peak season typically occurs between December and January.
