Luciana Castellina criticizes primary elections and NATO expansion

During the debut of the program ‘L’Elefante’ on Rai 3, journalist and former deputy Luciana Castellina criticized the primary election system, calling it a ‘bad invention’ by Walter Veltroni intended to mimic the American Democratic Party. Castellina argued that primaries favor those with significant financial resources for media propaganda, creating unequal opportunities.

Addressing international affairs, Castellina expressed support for Giuseppe Conte’s stance against rearmament, aligning with her party, AVS. Regarding the conflict in Ukraine, she noted that while she does not justify Moscow's actions, the expansion of NATO following the Cold War made a severe reaction from Russia predictable, stating that ‘wars do not break out suddenly.’

She also offered a harsh critique of General Roberto Vannacci, describing him as a ‘vague fascist.’
