Luciana Temer Begins Chemotherapy for Breast Cancer

Luciana Temer, a lawyer and daughter of former Brazilian president Michel Temer, announced on Instagram that she has started chemotherapy to treat breast cancer. She wrote, "Comecei hoje um caminho muito difícil, um tratamento de quimioterapia para enfrentar um câncer de mama," and added, "Vai dar tudo certo," expressing optimism about her recovery.

Temer highlighted that breast cancer affects one in six women over 50 in Brazil and noted that many women lack access to the same level of care she is receiving. The National Cancer Institute (INCA) projects about 74,000 new breast‑cancer cases in Brazil between 2023 and 2025, roughly 66 cases per 100,000 women.
