Luciano Hang criticizes proposal to end 6x1 work schedule

Havan owner Luciano Hang has criticized a proposal to end the 6x1 work schedule, labeling the initiative as “electoral fraud” intended to gain votes. Speaking during the inauguration of a new unit in Caldas Novas, Hang argued that transitioning to a 5x2 model would increase labor costs for his company by approximately 15%.

Hang warned that these increased expenses would likely be passed on to consumers, potentially raising product prices by 10% to 15%. He suggested that such a price hike could ultimately reduce workers' purchasing power, forcing them to work harder to afford the same goods. Additionally, he noted that the change might drive workers toward informal labor as they seek to supplement their incomes.

The proposal, which is a Constitutional Amendment (PEC), is scheduled for a vote next week in the Senate's Constitution and Justice Commission. To pass, the amendment requires approval from three-fifths of senators in two rounds of voting.
