Luciano Leilua signs three-year deal with Catalans Dragons

The Catalans Dragons have signed St George Illawarra Dragons forward Luciano Leilua to a three-year contract. The 30-year-old Samoan international second-rower will join the Perpignan-based club from 2027 through the end of 2029.

Leilua, who has nearly 200 NRL appearances, joins the Super League side following news that his current club would not renew his contract past the current season. Catalans Dragons head coach John Cartwright praised Leilua’s power, explosiveness, and footwork.

Meanwhile, in the NRL, the St George Illawarra Dragons are fighting to avoid the wooden spoon. The club currently sits at the bottom of the ladder, four points ahead of the Brisbane Broncos, and requires a strong finish to avoid its first last-place ranking in its joint venture history.
