Luciano Nakis announces candidacy for Independiente presidency

Luciano Nakis has officially announced his candidacy for the presidency of Independiente in the club’s upcoming elections. Nakis, who currently serves as the president of Deportivo Armenio and is a director within the Argentine Football Association (AFA), stated via social media that his decision is the result of years of preparation and a vocation for football management.

His campaign aims to restore the club to its former status. Nakis gained widespread internet notoriety during the 2024 Copa América when he was filmed drying the neck of AFA president Claudio Tapia during a semifinal match, an incident he later explained was an act of assistance due to Tapia feeling unwell from the heat.
