Lucid Air luxury electric sedan faces rapid value depreciation
The Lucid Air, a luxury electric sedan positioned as a competitor to Tesla, is experiencing rapid depreciation. According to data from iSeeCars, the vehicle could lose approximately 62.7 percent of its value within five years.
In the United States, 2023 Lucid Air Pure models with relatively low mileage are being listed for between $36,000 and $37,000, nearly half the original starting price of $70,900. Kelley Blue Book data suggests even more dramatic shifts, noting that some 2023 models have lost roughly 56 percent of their initial value in just three years.
This steep decline is partly attributed to Lucid’s own sales strategies. The manufacturer has introduced more affordable versions, such as the Air Touring and Air Pure, and offers certified pre-owned models at competitive prices. These manufacturer-led discounts and financing incentives create significant downward pressure on the resale value for private owners.
