Lucid Motors gains new top‑10 institutional holder as AQR Capital ramps up stake
Quantitative hedge fund AQR Capital Management increased its Lucid Motors holding from about 31,000 shares at the end of 2025 to roughly 2.24 million shares in the first quarter of 2026 – a rise of more than 7,000%. The new position, valued at around $13‑$21 million, makes AQR the seventh‑largest pure institutional shareholder and the ninth overall among Lucid’s top ten owners.
The broader institutional roster also saw notable activity: Vanguard remains the largest holder with over 11 million shares; UBS added nearly 1.5 million shares for a 19% gain; BlackRock lifted its stake by about 208 k shares; and BNP Paribas nearly doubled its holding. Strategic investors Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund and Uber Technologies, which together control a large portion of Lucid, are excluded from the pure‑institutional rankings. Lucid’s stock traded between $10.73 and $5.62 during the quarter, providing a low‑price window that attracted systematic investors like AQR.
