Lucid recalls 27,000 Air sedans over fire risk

Lucid Group Inc. has issued a recall for 27,185 Air sedans manufactured between 2022 and 2026 due to a fire risk. According to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration filing, inadequate low-voltage overcurrent protection in an exterior lighting circuit can cause the component to overheat, smoke, or ignite. The defect may also lead to exterior light failures, increasing the risk of crashes.

Lucid has released an over-the-air software update, version 2.10.0, to resolve the issue. While 20,719 vehicles have already received the update, 6,466 vehicles still require it. Lucid advises owners who have not yet installed the update to park their vehicles outdoors and away from other vehicles or structures.

This recall is part of a broader wave of automotive recalls involving several major manufacturers. Recent announcements from Ford, Mitsubishi, and Chrysler have collectively impacted nearly 500,000 vehicles in the United States.
