Lucieni Vice Mayor Investigated for Unauthorized Veterinary Procedures

A vice mayor in the Lucieni commune of Dâmbovița County, Romania, is under investigation following allegations of performing unauthorized medical procedures on animals. According to the Dâmbovița County Police Inspectorate, the official is suspected of conducting castration procedures on three goats without anesthesia and without the owner's consent on September 27.

Investigators are also examining whether the individual practiced veterinary medicine without the required professional qualifications. Reports suggest that between July 2023 and early 2024, the man allegedly administered vaccines to dogs, provided injectable treatments to cattle, and signed health certificates.

The individual was detained for 24 hours and has since been placed under judicial control. He faces charges related to the mutilation of animals and the unauthorized exercise of a profession or activity.
