Lucinda Boyd aims to break winning drought at Murray Bridge
Trainer and jockey Lucinda Boyd is aiming to break a nearly 12-month winning drought at Murray Bridge this Saturday. Boyd will ride the stayer Haaland in the Prestige Equine Veterinary Handicap (2500m).
Boyd attributed Haaland’s recent runner-up finish at Morphettville on September 12 to jockey error rather than the horse's performance. She noted that she failed to maintain momentum during the race, stating, “I think I probably should have backed him in a little bit more than what I did.”
Haaland has not secured a victory since winning on Geelong Cup Day last year. Boyd, who previously won successive races with the horse at Sandown and Geelong, expressed confidence in the horse's current fitness and ability to sustain a strong gallop over a suitable distance.
