Lucio Carraro, educator and writer, passes away at 72

Lucio Carraro, a prominent educator, writer, and political figure from Mogliano, has passed away at the age of 72 following a brief illness. His funeral is scheduled to take place this Friday at the Duomo Arcipretale di Santa Maria Assunta in Mogliano.

Carraro had a significant professional impact in the Treviso area, notably teaching at the Carducci primary school and the Santa Bona complex until his retirement in 2017. Beyond education, he was a partner at the communication agency Metacomunicatori and served in local government as deputy mayor and assessor for Culture, Public Education, and Commerce. He also co-founded the civic list ‘Il Ponte’ to promote culture and community participation.

As an author, Carraro was recognized for his contributions to regional storytelling. Slow Food highlighted his work, specifically his book ‘Il senso della lumaca e altre storie’, which documented the lives of farmers, artisans, and biodiversity custodians in the Veneto region. His recent work included a children's mystery novel addressing the topic of bullying, which he presented in July.
