Lucio Montanaro, Italian comedy actor, dies at 75

Italian actor Lucio Montanaro has died at the age of 75. He reportedly suffered a sudden medical emergency while in the swimming pool at his home in Martina Franca. Despite the rapid intervention of emergency services, he could not be saved.

Montanaro was a prominent character actor, particularly recognized for his roles in the ‘commedia sexy all’italiana’ genre during the 1970s and 1980s. Throughout a career spanning more than 40 films, he frequently appeared alongside major Italian comedic figures such as Lino Banfi, Alvaro Vitali, Mario Merola, and Renzo Montagnani.

His filmography includes titles such as ‘L’infermiera di notte’, ‘La dottoressa preferisce i marinai’, and ‘La liceale al mare con l’amica di papà’. Beyond cinema, he also appeared in television productions, including an episode of the series ‘Carabinieri’ in 2007.
