Lucknow biryani vendor assaulted over alleged prohibited meat transport

A biryani vendor named Rizwan was allegedly intercepted and assaulted in the Itauja police station area of Lucknow. According to the victim, several individuals stopped him while he was transporting meat, accusing him of carrying prohibited meat.

The assault reportedly involved kicks, punches, and the use of belts, leaving the victim injured. A video of the incident has circulated on social media, showing the victim being beaten while pleading for help.

Police have registered a case against three named individuals—Rana Yadav, Shanu, and Suraj—under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Authorities have seized meat samples from the scene and sent them to a veterinary officer for testing to determine if the meat belongs to a prohibited category. An investigation is ongoing to verify the facts and the nature of the meat.
