Lucknow mosque and madrasa face land dispute notices
A revenue court in Mohanlalganj has issued notices to four managers of a mosque and a madrasa in Khujhauli village, located on the outskirts of Lucknow. The legal action follows a government inquiry which reportedly found that permanent structures occupy approximately 0.03 hectares, or 300 square metres, of land officially recorded as a pond.
The proceedings have been initiated under Section 67 of the Uttar Pradesh Revenue Code, 2006, a provision that allows authorities to address the unauthorised occupation of specific categories of public land. The managers have been summoned to appear before the court on October 29 to present land records and contest the findings.
While no final eviction or demolition orders have been issued, the case has caused concern among local residents regarding the potential impact on these religious and educational institutions. The dispute originated from a complaint filed by villagers through the Uttar Pradesh government’s grievance portal.
