Lucknow police arrest man after woman struck by car

A woman was struck and carried on the bonnet of a moving car following a confrontation near Janeshwar Mishra Park in the Gomti Nagar area of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Video footage of the incident, which circulated widely online, shows the woman clinging to the front of a white vehicle while shouting at the driver.

Police reports indicate that the driver, identified as Shahnawaz Ali, and the woman had a prior relationship and were involved in a dispute. According to local authorities, the woman attempted to block the vehicle to stop the driver from leaving, at which point she was struck. One report suggests that after the vehicle briefly stopped and the woman dismounted, the driver accelerated again, striking her a second time before fleeing the scene.

Lucknow East DCP Diksha Sharma confirmed that the accused has been detained and the vehicle has been impounded. Police have registered a case under attempt-to-murder provisions and are continuing their investigation into the incident.
