Lucknow road collapses into 12-foot sinkhole, injuring motorcyclist

A massive sinkhole, estimated to be between 10 and 12 feet deep, opened on a main road near Lucknow University in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, following heavy rainfall. A motorcyclist fell into the crater and sustained serious injuries.

Emergency responders, including police and municipal corporation teams, arrived at the scene. While officials attempted to retrieve the vehicle manually, a crane was eventually required to lift the motorcycle from the pit. The victim was transported to a hospital for treatment.

The incident occurred on the main road before the IT crossing, reportedly near the residence of former Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma. The road has been completely closed to traffic due to the danger posed by the hole. Local reports suggest the area is prone to such subsidence, and concerns have been raised regarding the proximity of metro pillars to the site.
