Lucknow Tops India in Rooftop Solar Installations as Uttar Pradesh Secures 17 Districts in Top‑100 List

Under the Prime Minister’s Surya Ghar (Solar Home) scheme, Lucknow installed 124,167 rooftop solar systems, retaining its position as the leading district in India. The achievement reflects Uttar Pradesh’s broader progress, with 17 of its districts—including Varanasi (rank 10) and Kanpur Nagar (rank 14)—appearing in the nation’s top‑100 list for rooftop solar deployment.

State Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted the rapid expansion, while Uttar Pradesh NEDA director Ravinder Singh provided the installation figures. Government incentives, streamlined online applications, and extensive awareness campaigns have accelerated adoption, delivering electricity‑bill savings for households, reducing grid load, and cutting carbon emissions.

The rollout demonstrates the state’s commitment to clean‑energy self‑reliance and positions Uttar Pradesh as a major hub for India’s renewable‑energy transition.
