Lucky Rawat to Represent India on International North Pole Expedition

Lucky Rawat, a 15‑year‑old student from Chakrata in Uttarakhand, has been selected to represent India on the 10‑day international scientific and educational expedition “Icebreaker of Knowledge”. The voyage, which brings together students aged 14‑16 from 22 countries including Bangladesh, China and Russia, launched from the FSUE Atomflot base in Murmansk aboard the Russian nuclear icebreaker 50 Let Pobedy. Participants will travel to the geographic North Pole (90° N) and return after reaching it. Rawat secured his place after clearing a three‑stage competition that chose one student per participating nation. He said he was proud to act as India’s ambassador on the mission, and his father, Ram Singh, expressed pride in his son’s achievement. The expedition aims to promote scientific learning, cultural exchange and Arctic awareness among young people.
