Lucília Galha wins LPCC/AstraZeneca Journalism Prize

Journalist Lucília Galha, from SÁBADO, has won the LPCC/AstraZeneca Journalism Prize for her reportage titled ‘Cancro: Os novos avanços da medicina’ (Cancer: The new advances in medicine). The report, published on June 5, 2025, explores recent innovations in cancer treatment, including immunotherapy and CAR-T cells.

The second prize was awarded to RTP journalist Paula Rebelo for the report ‘Medicina de Precisão – Armas Personalizadas para a Sobrevivência’ (Precision Medicine – Personalized Weapons for Survival), produced alongside image reporter Soraia Maia.

The Portuguese League Against Cancer (LPCC) evaluated 12 entries based on relevance, impact, scientific rigor, and ethical standards. Vítor Veloso, President of the LPCC, noted that the works demonstrate how scientific innovation changes lives and highlight the essential role of journalism in connecting science, patients, and society.
