Lucrezia Ercoli receives Premio Parmenide at Casa Severino

Lucrezia Ercoli, an aesthetics professor at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna and artistic director of Popsophia, has been awarded the ‘Premio Parmenide’. The ceremony took place on September 19 at Casa Severino in Brescia, a study center established in the former personal library of philosopher Emanuele Severino.

The award, organized by the Festival della Filosofia in Magna Grecia in collaboration with the Casa Severino Center, recognizes individuals who maintain a dialogue between ancient thought and contemporary issues. Ercoli delivered a ‘lectio magistralis’ titled ‘Thaûma e Katastrophé. L’angosciante stupore e l’origine della filosofia’, which explored the relationship between philosophy, anguish, and catastrophe through the works of Aeschylus and Leopardi.

Her lecture also touched upon her recent book, ‘La terra trema. Filosofia della catastrofe’, which examines the philosophical meaning of destruction and earthquakes. The Premio Parmenide was first awarded to Emanuele Severino himself, and the 2025 recipient was Mauro Bonazzi.
