Lucy Letby case re-examined in new Channel 5 documentary
A new Channel 5 documentary, ‘Lucy Letby: Scapegoat?’, is set to re-examine the case of the neonatal nurse convicted of murdering seven babies and attempting to murder seven others at the Countess of Chester Hospital.
The program features investigative journalist Rob Pattinson and includes testimony from an anonymous senior consultant who claims the neonatal unit was struggling and that alternative explanations for the infant deaths may have been overlooked. The documentary also questions the medical evidence used during the trial, specifically the prosecution's claim that Letby injected victims with air to cause embolisms.
In a separate development, a mother whose son died of enterovirus at the hospital six months after Letby was removed from the ward has raised concerns regarding hospital hygiene.
