Ludgero Marques, former AEP president, dies at 88
Ludgero Marques, a prominent Portuguese businessman and former president of the Associação Empresarial de Portugal (AEP), has died at the age of 88.
Marques, a mechanical engineer graduated from the University of Porto, led the AEP for 23 years between 1985 and 2008, overseeing a period of significant transformation for the institution. His career included presiding over various companies, most notably the ceramic and tap manufacturer Cifial.
In addition to his leadership at the AEP, he served as president of the Associação dos Industriais Metalúrgicos e Metalomecânicos do Norte and founded the Associação Portuguesa dos Industriais de Ferragens. He received several high-level honors, including the Grand Cross of the Order of Infante D. Henrique and the Order of Orange-Nassau from the Netherlands.
