Ludhiana: Former Sarpanch Navtej Singh Shot Dead in Targeted Attack

Navtej Singh, also known as Neetu, a former sarpanch of Manewal village, was shot dead in Ludhiana, Punjab, on a Saturday evening. The attack occurred near the Ladhowal bypass while Singh was traveling in his Toyota Innova toward his home.

According to police reports, two assailants on a motorcycle intercepted the vehicle and fired between six and ten rounds. Singh was rushed to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, where he was declared dead. The incident was reportedly captured on the vehicle’s dashcam, and empty bullet shells were recovered from the scene.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (West) Jatinderpal Singh stated that a land dispute within the victim’s extended family is a suspected motive. A case has been registered against eight individuals, including two identified suspects and six unidentified persons, following a complaint by the victim’s son, Alamjit Singh. Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage to track the attackers.
