Ludhiana receives Rs 65-crore compressed biogas plant foundation stone

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has laid the foundation stone for a Rs 65-crore compressed biogas (CBG) plant in Haibowal, Ludhiana. Scheduled to be operational by September 2027, the facility is part of a ‘Waste-to-Wealth’ mission designed to process 300 tonnes of cattle dung daily from the local dairy complex.

The project aims to mitigate pollution in the Budha Nallah and reduce sewer blockages by scientifically managing waste. The plant is expected to produce approximately five tonnes of CBG and organic bio-fertiliser every day. This initiative is intended to benefit 435 dairy owners by creating new income streams, while also promoting organic farming and providing employment opportunities for local youth.
