Ludwigsburg ambulance crash injures three, causes €25,000 damage
On Saturday 4 July 2026 at about 11:50 a.m., a 21‑year‑old ambulance driver in Ludwigsburg travelled with blue lights and a siren and ran a red traffic signal on Frankfurter Straße. The ambulance struck a 58‑year‑old Mazda driver who had a green light and was attempting to turn left onto Monrepos Straße. The impact pushed the Mazda into a traffic island, where it hit a road sign and then collided head‑on with a waiting Daimler‑Benz Sprinter van.
The ambulance driver, his 35‑year‑old passenger and the Mazda driver all suffered light injuries and were taken to hospital; the Sprinter driver was unharmed. The ambulance and the Mazda were rendered inoperable, while the Sprinter could still be driven. Police estimated the material damage at roughly €25 000 and are seeking witnesses.
