Ludwigshafen hosts live jazz accompaniment for silent film classic
In Ludwigshafen, the cultural center dasHaus will host a special screening of Lotte Reiniger’s 1926 animated classic, ‘The Adventures of Prince Achmed’, on October 2, 2026. As the world’s oldest surviving animated feature film, the work utilizes revolutionary silhouette and paper-cut animation techniques.
To honor the silent film tradition, Erwin Ditzner and Isabel Eichenlaub will provide a live, improvised musical accompaniment. This performance aims to recreate the cinematic experience of the 1920s, where musicians interacted dynamically with the moving images through jazz and improvisation.
