Bremen court sentences man to life for murder of ex-partner
The District Court of Bremen has sentenced a 33-year-old man to life imprisonment for the murder of his 30-year-old former partner. The court found that the defendant ambushed the woman in October 2025 in the Kattenturm district of Bremen, stabbing her eight times in the head, neck, and upper body.
The attack occurred in front of the victim's two children, a twelve-year-old son and a two-year-old daughter. During the assault, the defendant also injured the son by stabbing him in the back as he attempted to flee. The presiding judge described the brutal act as “a kind of execution” and noted that the level of violence was rarely seen by the chamber.
The court determined that the defendant acted with treachery and low motives, following a period of custody disputes. By establishing the “particular gravity of guilt,” the court has largely ruled out the possibility of early release after 15 years.
