Lufthansa flight makes emergency landing in Manchester
A Lufthansa Boeing 747-400 flight traveling from Frankfurt to Toronto made an emergency landing in Manchester on Saturday due to an unusual smell in the cabin. The aircraft was carrying 371 passengers.
An emergency situation was declared during the flight to ensure priority landing clearance. Because the aircraft landed with extra weight due to its fuel load, the fire service conducted a preventive inspection. Following the inspection, passengers were able to disembark normally.
The passengers have been placed in hotels and are expected to continue their journey to Toronto on a replacement flight on Sunday. Lufthansa stated that the safety of passengers and crew is their highest priority.
