Lufthansa Group introduces new paid seat categories
Lufthansa Group is introducing new seat reservation categories to increase ancillary revenue. Starting October 20, the airline will implement ‘Duo Seats,’ a premium category for passengers wishing to reserve two-seat pairs located by the window. This change primarily affects Airbus A330 and A340 aircraft operated by Lufthansa, Discover Airlines, SWISS, Edelweiss, and Brussels Airlines.
Duo Seats will be priced higher than standard classic seats but lower than extra legroom seats. Additionally, the group is introducing ‘Back Seats,’ which are cheaper seats located at the rear of the aircraft. The airline has also announced plans to implement dynamic pricing for seat reservations, meaning costs may fluctuate even for the same flight.
While Duo Seats remain free for Senator and HON Circle members, these frequent flyers will be excluded from free reservations if they book using the ‘Light’ fare for bookings made from October 27.
