Lufthansa introduces formal process for skipping flight segments
Lufthansa has introduced a formal process for passengers to skip segments of a booked itinerary without triggering a repricing of the remaining flights. This policy applies to German residents or passengers whose booked departure or destination is in Germany.
To qualify, travelers must demonstrate that they originally intended to fly the full itinerary and that a legitimate reason for the change—such as illness or force majeure—arose after the booking was made. The airline now requires passengers to submit a form including document uploads and a declaration of their original intentions. This development follows a legal precedent in Germany where a court recognized that a passenger's plans can legitimately change after a ticket is purchased.
