Lufthansa pilot dispute: Three arbitrations end without agreement

Three parallel arbitration processes between Lufthansa and the pilots' union, Vereinigung Cockpit, have concluded without a resolution. The arbitrations, which covered the core Lufthansa brand, Lufthansa Cargo, Eurowings, and CityLine, ended without the arbitrators, Roland Koch and Bodo Ramelow, issuing a formal ruling.

By declining to issue a formal decision, the arbitrators have left the final decision-making power to the negotiating parties. The dispute involves complex issues including fleet sizes, future career prospects for pilots, and crew productivity.

Under an agreed-upon 'envelope procedure,' a mediation process remains active and is scheduled to continue until November 15, 2026. This mediation serves as a bridge while the parties attempt to reach a settlement before potential escalations in labor action.
